The Minneapolis Queer Book Club meets every second Wednesday of the month in Minneapolis, MN, and is dedicated to reading books written by LGBTQ+ authors and/or with LGBTQ+ themes. We strive to be inclusive and welcoming, and read a wide variety of genres and authors.
Hey folks, we are doing the usual summer book club thing and meeting at Brackett Park today. Just wanted to clarify for anyone new/since we’ve bounced around a bit this summer. Hope to see you at Brackett Field Park (2728 S 39th Ave, Minneapolis) at 7 PM (on the North/NE side, at the picnic tables) to discuss The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar (do not go to Quatrefoil, at least not to see us, we won’t be there!)

Find yourself a copy of the book we’re reading (ideally from a local, independent bookstore—we are sponsored by and recommend Moon Palace!), read it (or at least try to!), and join us to chat about it. Our discussions are usually pretty informal.
Note: if you don’t finish the book, you are more than welcome to join, but the discussion may spoil things for you.
We meet every second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm. During the colder months we meet at Quatrefoil library; from May through September we meet at Brackett Field Park, but fall back to Quatrefoil when it rains, the air quality is poor, etc. (join our mailing list for last-minute location changes!). Extenuating circumstances occasionally push us to meet online. Sign up for the mailing list below to make sure you receive alerts about location changes, etc.
Nope! You can engage in whatever way feels most comfortable/enjoyable to you. Our meetings are lightly facilitated/structured, and tend to take the form of free-flowing discussions. You can weigh-in or not weigh-in based on your preference. You can also show up for some meetings and not others. We’re all adults, we get it.
Our facilitators take suggestions from the group and do their best to choose books covering a wide range of genres and LGBTQ+ topics. We’ve read historical fiction, classic literature, modern romance, sci-fi, horror, and everything in-between.
Possibly! The Club has been running for years, with different people leading it. We met at Moon Palace before the pandemic, and were previously for queer people over the age of 30, however these days anyone who wants to talk about LGBTQ+ books is welcome to join us.
